It is a normal practice of mine to work on one project outside of work and school. However, I have fallen into the habit of starting projects and not finishing them. So, to instill some accountability into myself, I've decided to document my projects publicly.
link:download keygenFor a while I was working on learning Carbon, but I have yet to see a resource on Carbon that isn't either horribly outdated or written overly simplistically or like the K&R. So I've decided to put Carbon on hold and move on to Cocoa. This may not be the smartest move, but it's what I've decided to do.
Current Project: Self Education on Cocoa
Status: Searching through XCode documentation
Wow... this is surreal. I just started up my old Mac Performa 6116CD. Man, is it slow! I remember back when I had System 7 on it and it was the hottest thing on the block. Now, it's just old and useless.
I've been trying to find a UNIX distro that'll run on it, but I've had little luck in this area. Hopefully, I'll find some way to get some use out of it.
Right now, it's not networked at all. I'm getting a special ethernet converter for it and I'll probably surf the web with it once or twice just to see how sick I'll get.
Anyway, it's time to go and run Norton on it, and maybe play and old game or two, just for old time's sake.
I got 10.3 today. All those compatibility issues I heard about haven't affected me, and Expose is awesome. Plus, I got over half off with my student discount, yay!
As for my crashing, well, TechTool turned up nothing. I think it might be an overloaded power strip. I'll be getting two new surge protectors very soon (hopefully).
I really need to clean my room.
(Wait, what happened to all the gaming stuff?) STFU, this isn't your Blog.
In the next three years, Apple will release a new version of the iPod that will functionally double as a PDA, or release a PDA that will functionally double as an iPod.
Thus Sayeth B Rob.
I'm thinking of switching from human to orc. I think orc heros are more versatile overall, and I like the tech options for orc. No definite decision yet, we'll just have to wait and see.
Sorry about not posting for so long. My schedule keeps me rather busy, and I usually prefer to use my free time playing games rather then doing something more constructive. Sometimes I think of things to post here, but I get home and forget half of what I wanted to say. It kind of goes this way with my writing.
Anyway, I've decided that I've got to get back into roleplaying. Due to the often fluid nature of my schedule, I've decided to go with a play-by-post style game rather then the traditional kitchen-table style or LARP.
There are a couple of ways I could go with this.
#1: I could go to a forum like D&Dplanet.com and join one of their pbp games. However, I'd rather leave myself open to other games.
#2: I could go to one of my regular forums like evula.com or Underworld Productions. However, I don't know if I could get a board of my own at either of those places. This is probably the way I'll go, but I'm leaving my options open.
#3: I could get a forum with a free host like proboards.com. Unfortunately, I really don't like other forums besides phpBB (it looks awesome), and those kind of free hosts are often very slow.
#4: I could start a web story with rules. Most web story participants prefer the free form style of a traditional web story, so players would be hard to find. I'd like to work on a rules set for this type of game, but the time factor rears it's ugly head again. This is something I'd really like to do, but it doesn't seem very likely right now.
Well, those are my options. I guess there's a fifth option (do nothing), but I'd rather not consider it.
If you have any suggestions, or want to join my game, let me know by leaving a comment. See you around!
