Shuo had held the Shining Force up by three days, making use of his primitive skills, as opposed to the Shining Force’s newer, advanced ones. One of those skills was fire-making; Shuo had no idea that Tao and Anri both had a Blaze level 3 spells that could instantaneously start a fire for them. He, instead, decided to start a fire for supper that night by rubbing two stick together, and sticking a bunch of dead leaves on the flaming wooden tepee. This, of course, took several minutes, as opposed to immediate inferno.
“Shuo,” Max stated one night. “Shuo, why are you resorting to your old, time consuming methods, rather than leaving it to the newer, quicker methods?”
“Because- well, because casting spells for convenience, I was brought up learning that those types of things were bad, and they were like cheating. I was taught not to cheat and stuff like that.”
“But Shuo, it’s much easier and much faster if you just leave it to us to get the work around here done. All you have to do is prove to us that your skill with a sword is far better than your skills around the campsite,” Max argued.
Shuo fought back. “Max, think of all the leaves you’d kill if you just sent a spontaneous blaze toward the ground, as opposed to the leaves you’d kill if you go slow and easy. Leaves haven’t done anything to you, so why are you killing them?”
Max had heard this before, from Zylo. He gave up Shuo would never be convinced that advanced methods of executing tasks was far more efficient than his ways.
Shuo knew that Max would never learn. “Max,” he continued, “I grew up in the wilderness, and picked up many survival skills as I grew older. I’ve lived out here for seventeen years! I know what’s safe and what isn’t in the woods. Please, Max, leave it to me to guide you through the forest.”
“Shuo, you obviously don’t understand. We’re in a hurry to get to Panmei. We need to stop Darksol from spreading more devastation throughout the land!”
“Max… We’re in Panmei. I know we were trying to get there. I’ve overheard you talking to… Tao, is her name? Yes, I’ve been overhearing you discussing you next plans of action. And you haven’t realized it, but we’re far off course from where you’d like to be. We’re in the jungles of Panmei, the deserted region that no one would ever think to look for someone. Max… I know my way around here.”
Max looked shocked. “Well, there are no doubts in my mind anymore about you staying with us.” And they headed back to their campsite.

A castle stood regally on a low-lying hill in a picture perfect landscape. A misty mountain range provided a backdrop and a protection from the rear of the castle, and a perfect green field and garden stood in the front of the magnificent structure.
This castle was the city of Emutia. The city boasted a labyrinth of stairwells that stretched across almost four hundred acres. This majestic city stood on the outskirts of Panmei, in the farthest corner of the land. The castle city was way out of the way, almost unable to threaten Darksol and his reign of terror. Naturally, the evil being overlooked Emutia the walled city, and continued in his quest to raze the rest of Panmei. He succeeded in his attempt to do that.
The day was a gorgeous, sunny day. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, and many of the almost five thousand inhabitants strolled through the gardens or mountain paths right near the castle, or roamed a bit beyond the borders of the city. Everyone was bubbling with energy and happiness, save for one lone person sitting near the entrance of the garden. The drooped down on a bench, and sulked for the day, rather than soaking in the sunlight that could make them more joyful.
This person was a woman, and her name was Shishimu. This woman was very wealthy, and was married to a handsome man by the name of Kiowe. They created one child – a daughter who they named Chirusuchi.
Chirusuchi was a beautiful sorceress, and a very powerful one at that. Shishimu would never forget the day that her beautiful daughter vanished without a trace.
