Normal day at college, lotsa work. Oh, and then I sat it on the rehearsal for the show, since I'm doing sound, I should be there for at least some of it.
And I found out some great news.
I will get to see the sound deck for the first time, TWO DAYS before the show. I've never used one before, I'll have two days to learn, and to practise my cues, as I have to control ALL the radio mikes, plus other 'ambient' ones. Therefore, the whole cast relys on me to get this right, and not leave on their mikes while changing. Oh, and this is the first show from us students that the college principal is coming to see, so no pressure...
One last thing, I have no idea how many channels are on the board, so I may have to double up mikes, but I won't know until two days before, so I'll have to work quickly, and label things very very well...
Well, uh.. just like the title says!
Letsee, what's new in life... I've just finished my easter break and I'm back at college (oh yay). But seriously, I'm getting good marks, Merits and Distinctions, so I seem to be headed towards an overall Merit, which is a very good thing. I'm also getting into the technical side of theatre, as seen by the fact that I'm the sound techie on a production of the Rocky Horror Show (out-of-college, but directed by my tutor), I wanted a part, but obviously I'm not sexy enough to be IN the show :/
More cool stuff, I'm now about to be put on the casual techie list of my local big theatre, i.e. if they need extra crew, they give people a call, which rocks. So go me!
