If one does not establish principles to live by, then one is capable of having nothing to live for. Another point is that life is only as serious as one makes it out to be, I believe this principle is the groundwork that most people are missing in their view on existence.
I feel that this generation suffers from a serious misconception of existence. I am not a religious person, and I have no intention of ever becoming one, but many of you may be under the impression that life is the most serious thing in existence, and thus a variation of this view is just as absurd.
I am not saying that life is not the most important thing, because I believe that everything else matters even less. I believe that life is a coincidence; a huge, and extremely complex, chain reaction. I do not believe in a spirit. I think that when I die, there will be nothing. What I consider to be "myself" and what many consider to be a soul is the product of the physical components that my mind is comprised of. I consider these things to be the equation, and when the equation dies, there is no product.
Most of you will not be able to achieve enlightenment through my views, because most of you fear death. First of all, fear only exists in the mind of one who takes life too seriously in the first place. Secondly, death is nothing to fear; when you die, you wont have worries, nor fear, because you will be dead. All the things that you think you will "miss", you wont care about. You will not care about the nobel cause for which you died, or the heinous crime that cost many innocent people their lives including yours. You will not care, because you will be dead.
Some people have a hard time grasping this concept. But then again, if you don't fear death, why stay alive? Simply put, you could kill yourself even if you feared death. I'm not saying that the idea of dying is not awful; I would not want to die, because there are better uses of my time here than throwing it away forever. I would much rather be a slave to basic human emotion and instinct, and would expect no less from anyone who thought in the same way. I am just saying that if I had a reason to die, I could do it. (preferably in a way that would spare those who would have a problem with it.)
The reason that I have wrote this is not to demonstrate my incredible ability to pull ideas straight out of my ass, but rather because NONE OF YOU READ MY BLOG, DAMMIT!
