Brian and I have been together for two full years? Is this possible? Wow.
Happy anniversary, love. With much love and squishing! I'm so glad we've made it this far-- here's to many more years of love!
So one more day of finals and then I am free! Thank the lord. I have so much planned for winter break, I just know I'll get none of it done ^_^
Talk to y'all later!
I'm running out of titles.
So Brian is over and we watched serenity yesterday with some of my friends, It was super awesome. Definitely worth the wait since I missed seeing it in theaters. Also, last night we saw harry potter. That was quite enjoyable. It was definitely the best movie so far, though I felt it was a little too fast paced. I really liked how they portrayed the resurrected voldemort. He didn't look anything like I imagined when reading but he looked just right somehow.
lets see... what else? oh right. All the hair styles in that movie were way too 80's. I thought we stopped the long wavy hair on guys thing, neh?
Well.
As some of you may have noticed I have been fairly busy lately. It being finals week I finally have a few days to relax, but before this I was very busy with school and playing halo. :)
Have a great week guys.
So brian kept me informed about Korn's new album as it came into being and etc. he sent it to me a few days ago, and today I listened to it. I got into Korn back when Untouchables was just about to be released. I think Follow the Leader, Issues and Untouchables are excellent albums for the most part. I tried really hard to get into Take a Look in the Mirror, but it just didn't happen for me. So to say the least I was skeptical to listen to this new album, See You on the Other Side.
Unfortunately, what this album makes up in interesting and in some points NIN-ish sound, it lacks in melodies and lyrics. Which, in my opinion, was the complete opposite problem that Take a Look had. That was pretty neat lyricswise(at least in a few songs) but I couldn't stand the grating guitars, it was so monotonous.
It seems there was a little something in every song on See You that ruined them for me--shitty chorus, or fucked up sounds at the end, or obnoxiously angsty lyrics, stuff like that.
There are a few exceptions to this though. I think their first single off the album, Twisted Transistor, is a very fun and funky song, I like it. Tearjerker, though the bridge is a little odd, is definitely the best song on the album. It is like With Teeth's right where it belongs--a slow quiet song to end the turmoil that was the rest of the album.
So if you're a fan of the demented or hauntingly melodic side of Korn, this album ain't really for you.
I dunno. I think I'll give it a few more listens before deciding if I'll put it on my shelf by Take a Look and never really pick it up again.
