Simple Facts about Macs

In my travels around the Internet, I've noticed that a large number of people don't understand a couple simple facts about Macintosh computers. I have written this to help all Windows users understand about Macs. It seems that they don't seem to want to learn, and are content to be ignorant. This cannot continue.

To alleviate this, I have compiled a list of four very simple, but very important Mac facts that all Windows users should know. Please read them carefully. (Pay special attention to number one. This is the one that I see Windows users doing the most.)

1. It's "Mac," not "MAC." For some reason, Windows users insist on capitalizing all three letters, when this is not correct in any way, shape, or form. Mac is not an acronym.* It is short for Macintosh. I can't speak for all Mac users, but it annoys me to no end when Windows users do this. Just stop it.

2. The company that makes Macintosh computers is not called Macintosh. They are called Apple. They also make some very nice software in addition to their computers.

3. MHz is not the only factor in the speed of a computer. Macs have less MHz**, but that does not make them significantly slower. In some cases they are faster, and in some cases they are about the same, even though the clockspeed is quite different.

4. It isn't a good idea to get into Mac VS. PC debates with Mac users. They are fiercely loyal to their Macs, and will not back down.

*Unless you're talking about networking, where MAC stands for Media Access Control.
**Or GHz is the proper term now, I guess.

NOTE: Mac users are encouraged to spread this to all Windows users they know, in the hope that they may learn something. Just remember to put my name on it...

Finally! I'm not the only one who can't stand the "MAC" word trend! =)
