So this past Sunday was "Talk Like a Pirate Day," though I didn't. I'm not very good at it. In fact, I don't even like pirates that much. The pirate look, with the eyepatch and the wooden leg and all, is kind of cool, but they probably stink, too, and have horrible breath. I don't like people that stink and have horrible breath.
So I was thinking about the fact that it was "Talk Like a Pirate Day," and that probably every day is "Something Day." In fact, every day is probably a few different "Something Days." For all I know, today could be "National Fountain Pen Day," "International Sheep Appreciation Day," "Shave Your Head Day," and "Wear Ludicrous Clothing Day."
Or those could be other days. And if they aren't days, they should be.
I recently bought the Mega Man Anniversary Collection for my GameCube. As I've been playing it, it's reminded me of how much I suck at Mega Man. I never was very good at it, and if it wasn't for the Easy mode they put in the Anniversary Collection, I would most likely never be able to beat any of the games.
However, the Mega Man series is one of my favorite game series of all time. This got me thinking. Why do I like the series so much when I completely suck at it? That's when I realized that it was the SAIBLIS (Suck At It But Love It Syndrome) that was affecting me. I haven't noticed any other games or series that affect me this way, but I'm sure other people have noticed this same phenomenon.
I had a random thought about Star Trek the other day, and I thought I'd share it.
Why don't they have seatbelts on any of the ships? It seems like, at least once, someone would say, "Hey, when we're getting attacked, isn't it kind of uncomfortable to be thrown around the ship? Maybe if we strapped ourselves in, there would be less injuries, and we wouldn't be thrown away from our consoles while trying to take evasive action."
Apparently none of the engineers or ship designers ever thought of that. I don't understand why, though. It seems so obvious.
