You knew it would happen eventually.

Miley Cyrus has appeared in Vanity Fair, apparently not wearing much besides a bed sheet:

New York Times Blog

This has come as a surprise and a shock to many parents of pre-teen and teenage girls. Now, I may be a pessimist in this way, but for some reason it doesn't surprise me at all. I'm sure all of these actresses get into the business with the best of intentions, knowing full well that they may be asked to do something of this sort in the future. Many of them say they'll never do anything like that. However... it happens. You get popular, you're known for being good looking, and it happens. With Miley Cyrus (or Hannah Montana, as she's probably better known), I was just wondering when. Well, there it is.

It's not to say that I don't think it's possible. There has to be a girl out there that can be pretty, popular, and successful and not think they have to use their body to make money. I'm just saying that they're very rare.

"The Trust-Reward Game"

Score one for the atheists:

dmiessler

Mr. Miessler again shows how astute he is, and also how much he enjoys playing around with people. I must agree that modern society is not very trusting of people, and those who are trusting are seen as weak and vulnerable. Mr. Miessler shows here that people are therefore surprised when someone follows through on their promises. A good read.

Jack Thompson, this one's for you.

So, apparently kids who play violent video games are not as much at risk for violence as kids who don't play them at all. Some interesting findings:

Kotaku

Authors of the book "Grand Theft Childhood" went on X-Play and explained their findings. Fascinating stuff.

CAT 5 Wedding Rings

I'm such a geek, but I found this cool:

Engadget

I showed it to my girlfriend, since we plan to get married sometime next year... she gave me a look, and asked me, "So, who gets which one?" I said, "Well, isn't it obvious?" Of course, it's just either net connectors, but... :P

Hey, at least I thought it was funny. :)
