Well, I'm now back at campus diving headfirst into a 22 credit semester while still doing Mock Trial and serving on the CCC. This weekend is the first MT tourney of the semester. I leave thursday afternoon, actually, and won't be back until sometime sunday. Which, makes this a two and a half day week...not a bad start, unless I miss something important on friday. So far classes are looking good, my CSE class might turn out to be my favorite yet and will give me a real taste of what designing IC's is all about (which is rather exciting, considering I'm likely to end up doing this for a living at this). My theo teacher is hilarious and seems extremely dedicated to the material and eager to get to know all his students. I think the class will be great, unless he takes it personally that I have to miss a few classes for MT.
I don't really know anything about my EG, seminar, or math classes yet. Those all start tomorrow. As long as they all go well, this should be a fun semester.
Break was good, but felt short and packed. I spent a week in portland, then one in nebraska, then another in portland, then one in corvallis before heading back to school. I really only saw people at new years. I loved seeing everyone and catching up, but I can't help seeing how much things have changed. I suppose its all for the better, but I still remember and love the aimless simplicity of hanging out sophomore year, how we would throw "parties" that were focused on talking or watching a movie. Every year, fewer and fewer people seem to be coming back (staying at school or getting jobs elsewhere) and I can't help but feel saddened that in a few short years, most will not be returning for christmases. I guess what's really remarkable, though, is how little has changed for some.
For tonight,though, I can simply enjoy the afterglow of break without the stress of the new semester. A pity it can't last much longer, though...work is rearing its head again and must be embraced, or it will swallow me whole.
