2 Weeks...

So only 2 weeks left in my freshman year of college. Not too surprisingly, I can't wait to get home and be done with the stress and learning for a little while. I decided school isn't harder here, everything just gets magnified. Suddenly, not studying for one test will make or break your grade. And a "broken" grade can have a huge impact on your life. Forget about trying to get in to college, these pathetic GPA points determine who becomes doctors, lawyers, et. al. Perhaps more relevantly, they determine who gets which internship (or even who gets AN internship). Its been rather hard watching juniors and seniors stress over the difference between a A and a A- because it honestly does matter in the course of their lives.

If you want to respond that it really doesn't, that these grades are really trivial, I invite you to come out here and explain that to several of my friends still waiting to hear back from Med schools, guys who have no idea what they're doing in 3 weeks when they graduate and will have to start paying back massive loans, or my friend who was beat out for the service program she wanted and is worried she'll end up an alumni bum living in a run-down apartment bussing tables in South Bend, or those who's LSAT scores were too low to gain admittance into a worthwhile law school. Its become a rather harsh, competitive world out here...and I'm worried I'm getting sucked into it...

All things considered, I can't wait for the simplicity of "work" again.

I love you!
