About the Forums

Just a wrap-up of everything pertaining to the Forums:

For those that don't know, the Forums got hacked. This consisted of several accounts being deleted (including my primary account), the forums being deactivated (one of phpBB's options), and the title being changed.
I do not know if any posts were deleted. I'm hoping not.
I've got a marvelous plan for repairing the Forums. It's based largely on ignorance of how phpBB handles deleted accounts, and if I'm wrong, it'll just be really, really strange. If I'm right, though, when the forums open back up, you'll hardly notice a thing. :)
I don't know when I'll have them back up, so don't ask. I don't know how long it'll take to do everything that needs to get done, so I can't even give a rough estimate.

The only thing I can suggest doing is keep checking back here at my blog for news about the Forums. If my fix works (as far as restoring the deleted accounts), I'll be keeping the forums down for a little while longer so that, when I open the forums back up, you shouldn't notice much of anything being out of place.

There will still be a bit of work as far as restoring everyone's permissions (user groups they belonged to, boards they moderated, etc), but all in all, it should be relatively painless for the user. A pain in the ass for me, but for the user it should be fine. :)

Just an FYI: here's my schedule for the week:

Monday: I have off, specifically so I can play KOTOR2. I'll try to do some forum work, but god dammit, I've earned some time to have fun. My car will be going into the shop Tuesday morning, so I won't be at my place Monday night.

Tuesday & Wednesday: in the evenings, I'll be working on the forums, provided I have a car.

Thursday & Friday: I have evening performances. No work.

Saturday: Evening performance, but I'll be doing stuff (if there's anything left to do) during the day.

dude, i'll loan you a car (truck - be a man), just don't let the script kiddies that read the instructions on how to hack at the phpBB site beat you down, put the forums back now.

I think I was the about the first person to see that the forums had been hacked. I was browsing the forums and I left for about 5 minutes to check something and when I came back the forums were offline.
Really sorry to hear about all that crummy news Evula. :(

I'm very sorry bout ur forums bring hacked, but not all of us hackers r bad!Just some ppl who hack decent sites like dis!If i knew em, i'd av such a go @ dem, but i don't...
I hope u get da forums back up an running soon!Mabe u should talk 2 some hackers bout stoppin it from happening again, i'd do it but...

Hey, I found something you might find usefull. There's been a worm going around throught bots to deface phpBB message boards. Many other forums got defaced. Check out http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=249010 to see how to fix it.

It seems like this is a temporary forum for us to post on until the other ones come back, doesn't it... well I don't think we mind but what about EVula, does this bother you? I would like to post because I've been trying to get on the forums for ages but I memorized the address so I would just type in forums.evula.com/login.php and it would say the page couldn't be displayed. Finally I got annoyed enough to just try the forums and that's when I found this. I feel like a doink now tho, not trying another link...
