Stupid Blacklist...

For those of you that may have noticed, there's a bit more spam around blog.evula.net than normal. That's because, for whatever reason, I can't access the De-spam feature of the Blacklist. I'm not the only one to have that problem (I've read about it on the support forums for MT-Blacklist). I hope to fix the problem tonight, at which point I'll be back to busting all the spam on everyone's blogs. Whee.

Well, that didn't take as long as I thought. Just replaced my blacklist.txt file with the "Global" blacklist.txt over at jayallen.org and it worked like a charm. Strange, since MT-Blacklist was picking up stuff that wasn't in the standard list (and the file size ballooned from 52k to 135k, which are the respective sizes of the official list and my list). Strange, but I don't care. :)

I ended up taking care of 390 pieces of spam. Not the largest haul I've ever taken care of (I think I did 1200 or so in a single sitting once), but since I usually kill spam within a few hours of it being posted, it's unusual.

If you're curious about the blacklist, it can be found here: http://blog.evula.net/blacklist.txt

Of course, if you weren't lazy and didn't use mass-produced software... *evil grin*

...yes? It isn't that I'm lazy, it's that I have no time. That, and I'm (admittedly) ignorant of how to develop my own blogging system.

Still, I'd rather use mass-produced software that works (fixing this issue took all of 15 minutes, then I spent the rest of the time taking out all the spam) than spending several hours trying to figure out how to debug what I've written.

50%, if not more.
