I'm actually *winning* against the spam

In my recent purge of spam from the blog system, one of the things I've been doing is closing as many posts as I can. This has proven to be extremely effective; I can now go about twelve hours between checks without finding anything (I just checked, and I had just three spam comments on someone's blog entry from 2005).

Pretty exciting (for me, at any rate).

...and, because spam bots are not without a sense of humor, I had three spam comments waiting for me a few hours after posting this entry. :)

My question is: why does *YOUR* blog get hit so much? It makes no sense!

Well, mine is one of the more active on the system, so just by the law of averages, it makes sense for me to have more than most.

That said, in the recent spam deluge, insomniac's blog that was hit harder than mine.

Well I meant EVula.net in general. I've seen a lot of blogs, and yours seems to be more of a target than most.

That... I dunno. Maybe because, for most blogs, there's just *one* blog, as opposed to here, where there are several dozen.

Good point. That could explain it.
