College Students Don't Always Update Each Day

January 01, 2006

Congratulations, Earth!

Yeah, I know. You say the same thing every year: you let inertia and gravity do most of the work. But I still think it was an accomplishment completing yet another solar orbit.

After all, you're a big ball of molten rock that's slightly crispy at the edges. Getting all the way around the sun must be hard for one such as you. And all that space dust you eat, I'm surprised you even have the energy to wake up in the morning. And of course, you've got that pesky little moon following you around all day. I don't know how you have the patience for it.

Then you've got that infestation. Always digging into your crispy shell and blowing little holes in you. I appreciated your attempts at destroying some of their colonies with your weather system the past couple years. I still say you should shake a bit and wipe out the rest of them. Or maybe even try to hit another rock flying about. Although I suppose the pain might not be worth it.

Anyway, best of luck to you in your next orbit, Earth. I hope it's an easier one.

I'll be seeing you!
