College Students Don't Always Update Each Day

I'm Somewhat Happy

I'm somewhat happy that I have a day off from work today. Such days are few and far between after early July. I was working 13-15 hour workdays earlier this week (after coming back from a memorial service for my uncle in Wisconsin). Tomorrow I go back for another very long day, and things will continue like this for a while, getting slightly more relaxed as the performances start. I'm very much enjoying doing sound for "Blithe Spirit", and ~not~ having to do "Can-Can" (the person I've trained seems to be doing fine job). I'll start to run sound for "Children of Eden" on Monday.

Anyway, I'm going to watch some DVDs I haven't gotten around to yet (but acquired recently). "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and "Dr. Strangelove" are both on the list. I highly recommend both movies, and look forward to seeing them again this afternoon.

Enjoy!

What are you?

For the Americans: Are you an isolationist, a liberal, a realist, or a neo-con? I came out as a realist, which wasn't surprising. Go ahead and take the quiz, and post your results in the comments.

Enjoy!

Bah, I Suppose I Ought to Post Something...

Well, Kerry's picked his running mate. I'm not terribly surprised by Edwards as Veep, but I suppose at the same time I am. I was sort of expecting somebody unexpected. Oh well.

Edwards is a good man, and I think he'll do a good job where he's needed. I'm still not convinced he's the right choice, but we'll soon find out.

Hmm. Anyway, as a Bay Stater, I can tell you a little about the DNC mess. Everyone from Boston that I know is going to clear out completely before it happens, and won't be back until it's long over. I heard there was a poll that said 80% of Boston residents are going to leave the city. It probably won't be that bad, but if that many people are thinking about it, that shows just how bad things are going to get.

Well anyway, that's my bit of political insight.

Heads Up!

Well, as you have no doubt noticed, I'm not exactly updating my blog as much as I usually do. This is for a number of reasons, but the long story short is, I have no time.

I have one week left before tech week begins. For those who don't know much about theater, tech week is when people like me (on the tech crew) work, eat, and sleep at the theater. And when I say work, eat, and sleep, I mean work, work, and occasionally get some food or rest. This year I'm working on three shows, Blithe Spirit, Can-Can, and Children of Eden. I'm designing sound for all of them, and running probably two of them. In between that, we'll all be putting the finishing touches on set pieces, and other tech stuff.

This week, I'll be busy training somebody on the sound board, since she'll be running it for at least one of the shows. I'll also be trying out sound effects, and hopefully setting up equipment. When I'm not doing that, I'll be building and painting with the rest of the crew.

So yeah, that's how things are right now. In a few weeks I should be back to posting regularly. Until then, don't expect much.

See you in a few weeks!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy Independence Day, all of you Americans out there! Don't blow yourselves up too much!

As for you foreigners, I wish you all a happy 4th of July too.

I probably won't be seeing any fireworks today, unless they're on television. We often go out to a nearby town to see some, but this year we're not quite willing enough to brave the traffic and mosquitos. We will have some family friends over, and some good food.

Enjoy!
