Serenity DVD

One of the things I got this Christmas was the DVD for Serenity. You may have remembered my previous blog entry demanding your attendance in the movie theater. Well, it's time for another demand. If you haven't gotten the DVD yet, get it now.

Now that that's out of the way, I'll explain in greater detail why this DVD is superior to that of other Digital Video Discs you might have seen. For one thing, it comes with a snazzy new FBI warning. Oh the colors, you won't believe! Then of course is the cool main menu. They definitely put some time into it. Oh yeah, and Serenity was the best movie of the year. Go figure.

Of course, it has some faults. The packaging was, frankly, criminal. I don't know how somebody could open it if not driven to do so by the awesomeness they knew was contained inside. And I had loads of troubles getting the DVD actually off of its little center knobby thing so I could play it. Pushing on it didn't seem to do much, I had to pull it up from the side and hope I didn't physically damage it from the bending. But overall, the experience was worth it once the DVD started to play.

Here's a tip for all you easter-egg fans: with "play movie" selected, go left, and enter.

Enjoy!

Happy Christmas!

Happy Christmas everybody. Yes, even you. I know, you're an atheist, or some other religion and don't celebrate the birth of Jesus. But that's okay, you can still be happy, can't you? That's right. You can. So don't get all offended or whatever. Besides, if you get offended for somebody wishing you happiness (or merriment), you need to reassess your interpersonal skills.

Now, the whole December 25th thing isn't even really the day Jesus was born on. Truth is, nobody actually knows when it was, it's arbitrary. But it would have been in the spring, that's for sure. The only reason this day was chosen was because it fit nicely into the calendar. You see, you can't really have Advent and Lent overlapping, and there's other stuff to take into account. All these various religious things that you may not care too much about. But this is the day that was picked, so here we are.

Anyway, I'm posting here kinda at midnight or whatever. Nothing yet to report on the gift front. I might get an entry up later for those who's very existence teeters on the edge of knowing whatever it was that I got. If not, sorry about that, I hope you enjoy your nonexistence.

What else is there to say... well... I find the whole "War on Christmas" thing rather amusing, and mostly because it's true that retailers and whatnot have been avoiding "Merry Christmas" like the plague this season. But I don't see it as a "War on Christianity", it's simply retailers getting too politically correct in order to try to sell more stuff. It's just a phase. Next winter they'll go nuts in the opposite direction. But hey, the media loves to jump on a story, even if it's one of their own creation.

Happy Christmas!

Ugh

*shudder*

I'm a bit OCD, and when things don't go as I want them to, I start flipping out. Dealing with an endless stream of spam comments on my blog is not easy to do. I basically generated a list of every comment ever made, and went over the entire list determining which comments were spam and which were made by my wonderful readers (loyal or not). 1386 comments were spam. Yes, you read that right. Those that weren't spam I had to click a little checkbox so they wouldn't get the axe when I was finally finished. A lot of scrolling and quick reading until I got to the end of the list (which was in order of the time and date posted) where I had to un-check many many comments made by you guys. All 193 of them.

So yeah, that was brutal. Hopefully I can keep on it better from now on. If not... well, I can't really bring myself to think about that now.

Go outside and play.
