Sounds like you got your hands full. Art majors definitely seem to have it the worst. Good luck getting in to your favorite school! If I could do it after a TERRIBLE junior year, I'm sure you'll do fine.

Posted by TONY SERPORNO at March 20, 2004 02:46 PMHAha art is not a real major or thing to do in life, your just a liberal kid that feels "stressed" way to go dork. College apps are not that hard buddy and its just mtv that said they were
Posted by Dantes peak at May 10, 2004 05:02 PMto "Tony Serporno" - Its sounds to me like you've been rejected by every and any school you applied to, so as a result you decide to take it out on people who actually did get into college. Or, you're just swearing to see yourself swear; which is equally lame. Grow up, or take yourself out of the gene pool.
to "Dantes peak" - How incredibly shortsighted. Do you realize that every commercial or beginning to any mtv show is the work of an artist? Every bit of special effects on TV, or the design of all the cars in the world are done by an artist? The CD cover to your favorite CD, or on the back or front of your shirt?
I felt stressed because I was, you dolt. Normal college apps are easy, I agree. But lets see you create an intuitave slide portfolio presentation, after doing all those pieces of art. And then do all the drawings, THEN actually get into RISD ( which I did )
I ~doubt~ you could do it under the given circumstances that I was in. Enjoy your liberal arts community college.
also - what does my being liberal have to do with anything?
also - I don't watch mtv; it rots your mind.
Posted by zombat at June 2, 2004 11:05 PMJust delete Tony's and Dantes's comments. Unless they wish to prove me wrong, I've found that responding to trolls or flamers is a waste of time, since they rarely come back to where they posted to respond to anything that has been said to them, except to cause further chaos.
On a side note, not only is art a major, it can be an incredibly rewarding one too. After all, not everyone can draw, paint, design; there's a market for skilled artists. If it's what you want to do, stick with it.
god yes. you are my favorite person in the world right now. i actually stumbled across your entry while searching for RISD slide info on google. i am so freaking bewildered i'm not even sure which side of the slide to write on... anyway, procrastinating away my prescious college application time screwed me on the University of Syracuse art school and i really don't want to go to SCAD anymore after spending 2 weeks in a seminar there. you said somthing about drawing 3 different pieces for a RISD assignment and i don't have any idea what you're talking about. they still haven't sent back my admission confirmation and further request of transcripts and crap. i'm going to be the girl with "so much potential" and great grades who doesn't get accepted to any colleges because she is so intensely overwhelmed and horrified by the who ordeal. if these are "the best years of my life" i'm offing myself immediately. that or sailing out to sea on a raft composed entirely of canvases and art supplies.
good luck with all your life's endeavours. maybe we'll bump into each other at RISD or MICA sometime.
