I'm Back

Back from vacation!

its only rock n roll

Feeling a bit better now, but still had a pretty bad bout of nausea last night. We figured out that it's a virus. I think I'm coming down with something else, too; my glands are pretty swollen and I've gotten sinus headaches at least every three hours.

Anyway, I finished The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan, one of the books I bought up in New Hampshire. 'Twas an excellent book. Some people complain that after the prologue it was really boring, but there aren't many books out there that don't have a lull in the action to introduce characters and whatnot. Some people deny it, and deep down somewhere in there they know it too, but character development is just as important, if not more important, than the plot. What good is reading the book if you can't even connect with any of the characters? All of Robert Jordan's characters are in depth, each having a unique personality (and personality querks) that link the readers to even the most minor of characters.

Speaking of which, I made a character today that is possibly my favorite. Her name is Reoj, Keeper of the Promise. She is of the Ni Skurn a Iren people, or the Summoners of Long Past. ^_^ Take a look at chapter 3 on the TNCS site I made. Note that chapter 3 is not anywhere near finished. -_-;; It was hard writing about the part with the wind, because I made it seem like so much of a person that I would write "he" instead of "it" by accident sometimes...^^;

Whee. Yeah, I'm tired.

P.S. Oh yeah, Chib, the book store is called The Village Bookstore, and it's in Littleton New Hampshire, which is near Franconia, NH, which is about 20 minutes away from Lincoln, NH. Note that just getting into the state of NH is about a four to a four and a half hour drive on the fastest route my parents have found (more popular routes take about 7 hours...).

Entry #40 (aka Vacation)

Hi! I got some time on the 'net for now. My dad turned his computer into a wireless hub after hooking up to an empty phone jack. Pretty cool. ^_^

Anyway, the first night we got here, which was Thursday, there were at least four, not kidding or exaggerating, thunderstorms in a row. The lightning was so bright that it lit up the sky for seconds after it struck, and the thunder would have shaken any house in Ridgefield to the ground (houses in new hampshire are sturdy). Soon came pelting rain, and, during one of the storms, hail at least the size of a watermellon seed that didn't even melt when it hit the 80º ground. Lightning struck more than at least five trees within 50 miles of our house and cause them to burst into flame. My parents were coming back from grocery shopping and they said that there were fires and firetrucks around them. When they were in the store, a guy came over the intercom and told employees to grab flashlights in case the power went out.

Yesterday, we went to the Conways and went shoe-shopping (yes, I finally replaced my broken shoes). I got cool shoes that are made for running. We shopped around for clothes and stuff, then went to eat, then took our hour and a half drive to the cabin (although it's three stories and has four bedrooms, with TVs in all three living rooms).

Last night, I woke up at 12:30 AM feeling incredibly sick and decided to tell my dad about it, getting tums from him. Turns out that it was either dehydration (I'd barely drunk anything since lunch), a rejection of the hotdog I ate (my body does not respond to hotdogs well), or a virus. Could be a combination, too.

Today we went to a town called Littleton and went book shopping. I got six books, including the first two books in the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey, the next two books in the Shannara Series by Terry Brooks, the next book in the Mrs. Murphy series by Rita Mae Brown, and the first book in the Wheel of Time series by....um....I forget and I'm too lazy to climb two flights of stairs to check.

So, my dad's cooking dinner and I'm sitting here typing this, while my brothers are playing Super Smash Bros Melee on the gamecube we brought up.
