School

Okay, since it's been so long, I'll start with my birthday, which was August 15th. List of loot:

xplite 1.5 download

-Defy Gravity baseball t-shirt from Wicked
-Wicked Piano/vocal selections
-three .hack//SIGN DVD's
-all 3 LOTR DVD's
-3 Yes (3 is the magic number, I guess) DVD's - two live concerts and one documentary
-5 CD's of Yes in a collection called In A Word: Yes
- 4 CD's of hit motown singles in a collection called Hitsville USA: The Motown Singles Collection 1959-1971
-Standing in the Shadows of Motown extended Soundtrack
-Lots of little notebooks to carry around with me (for the purpose of writing)
-Two Arrogant Worms CD's

When we got back from vacation, I watched the .hack//SIGN DVD's. Slow-moving and lots of dialog, maybe, but still really interesting and has a really good plot. ^_^ I also watched Yesspeak and Yes: Key to Ascension. All of my music is now on my iPod.

On Tuesday, August 31st, school started for K-9 (only 9 in high school so freshmen could wander around without getting mobbed by large crowds and to have a special day set up for the purpose of getting used to it).

Subjects I think I'm going to like this year: English Honors, Global History Honors, and Earth Science Honors.

English mostly because of the subject matter (annotations I'm generally good at), although the teacher seems nice too, Global History because the teacher is really nice, although I love learning about ancient civilizations, and Earth Science because the teacher is funny and we'll be doing space-type stuff for part of the year (I LOVE astronomy...).

I joined one club, which is Lodestar. Lodestar is the high school's literary magazine, and the members of Lodestar's club get to give constructive criticism/vote whether it gets in or not, etc. The first meeting is from 7-9 on the 21st.

^_^ Whee!

Since I am bored, you get to find out what Motown songs I love! Huzzah! ....Right? um...okay, so maybe you don't care, but oh well! ^_^

-(I'm A) Roadrunner by Jr. Walker and the Allstars
-Ain't Too Proud To Beg by The Temptations
-What Becomes of the Brokenhearted by Jimmy Ruffin
-I Just Want To Celebrate by Rare Earth
-Every Little Bit Hurts by Brenda Holloway
-My Guy by Mary Wells (hey, the bass and the sax near the end do some cool swing-ish stuff....STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT...)
-How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You) by Jr. Walker and the Allstars

Anyway, we got episodes of Sherlock Holmes on DVD (yes, they made a show of Sherlock Holmes, and no, the mysteries are not overrated). The plots are really good, and Sherlock is probably one of the most interesting characters I've ever seen/heard of. I hope to actually read the Sherlock mysteries soon. He's not arrogant, and not underconfident; he knows his boundries and his talents, and he also isn't afraid to say exactly how something is regardless of how another person feels.

Example:
Watson stands somewhat forlornly by the front door of the house. "Holmes...?" Sherlock looks at him, and Watson continues, "did I really do extraordinarily bad?"
Without a moment's hesitation and a "duh" kind of look, Sherlock immediately replies, "Yes," as if it were the simplest thing to understand and proceeds to disappear into the house.

Sherlock also loves knowing the facts. He becomes very, very irritated if one is vague with describing the events that have passed to him. He's not mean, but not exactly nice either.

He's blunt, abrupt, and since he's so intelligent he becomes easily bored. Thus, he doesn't eat or sleep that much, and often takes drugs. Watson, being an ex-doctor, always hates it when Holmes does this.

Yeah...
